cars you actually
love to drive.

The Marques We Protect
How Coverage Works
The three ways a car is valued.
A policy is only as strong as the valuation method written into it. Before any quote, know exactly how your collection will be measured at the moment of a loss.
Agreed Value
You and the insurer lock in the vehicle's full value upfront. In a total loss, that exact figure is paid — no depreciation, no negotiation.
- Full locked-in value paid on total loss
- No depreciation at claim time
- Low or no-deductible options with many carriers
- Ideal for appreciating classics & exotics
What we recommend for nearly every exotic and classic.
Stated Value
You state a value, but the policy pays the lesser of that stated amount or the vehicle's actual cash value — and depreciation can still apply.
- You set a declared value ceiling
- Insurer may pay less than stated at claim
- Depreciation can still reduce the payout
- Often cheaper — but a false economy
Can work for some cars, but rarely the best choice for one that's gaining value.
Actual Cash Value
The insurer pays the vehicle's market value minus depreciation at the time of loss — standard auto policy behavior, and the wrong fit for collectibles.
- Market value minus depreciation at loss
- Payout drops as the car ages
- No guarantee of replacement cost
- Standard for daily drivers, not collectibles
Fine for a commuter car — a poor fit for a classic or exotic.
We quote agreed-value coverage first with every carrier we work with, and help you gather the photos, documentation and appraisals carriers ask for so your agreed value is set correctly from day one.

Pricing Example
What does agreed-value coverage cost? An example.
Illustrative national example — not a quote.
2022 Porsche 911 GT3 · Agreed value $285,000
Garaged, pleasure use, clean driving record, separate daily driver.
Collector agreed-value policies for a car like this typically run about $2,900–$4,300 a year nationally. For comparison, standard full-coverage insurance for a 911 GT3 averages about $6,035 a year nationally — and pays depreciated actual cash value, not the agreed $285,000, after a total loss.

What are you insuring?
FAQ
Questions enthusiasts ask us.
What's the difference between collector car insurance and a regular auto policy?
A regular policy usually pays actual cash value — what the car is worth minus depreciation at the time of a loss. Collector policies are typically written on an agreed value you set upfront, and they're priced for cars that are driven less and cared for more. For many enthusiasts that means better protection for a lower premium.
What is agreed value?
You and the carrier agree on the car's value when the policy starts. If it's a total loss, that agreed amount is what's paid — no depreciation argument after the fact. We help you set the number using recent sales, appraisals and documentation.
Does my car need to be old to qualify?
No. Collector programs cover modern exotics and limited-production sports cars as well as classics. Eligibility depends on the carrier, the car and how it's used.
Are there mileage limits?
Many collector policies limit annual miles or offer tiered mileage plans, and some carriers are more flexible than others. Tell us how you actually drive and we'll match you with a carrier and plan that fits.
Do I need a garage?
Most collector carriers require the car to be kept in a fully enclosed, locked structure such as a private garage or storage facility. Requirements vary, so let us know your setup.
Can I use my collector car as a daily driver?
Collector policies are generally for pleasure use, and most carriers ask that you have another vehicle for everyday driving. If you drive your exotic regularly, we can look at high-value standard auto options instead.
Is track or HPDE use covered?
Usually not under a standard policy. Some carriers offer track-day or HPDE coverage as a separate option. Ask us and we'll quote what's available for your car and events.
Can you insure a car that's being restored?
Yes — several carriers offer restoration-in-progress coverage that can increase as work is completed. Coverage terms vary by carrier.
Should I have an umbrella policy?
If you own high-value cars, an umbrella policy adds liability protection above your auto and homeowners limits and is often inexpensive for the coverage it provides. Policy Shopper can quote umbrella, homeowners and more alongside your collector policy.
What does it cost to get a quote?
Nothing. We're an independent agency, so we compare carriers for you at no cost and with no obligation.
